Know Your Security Alarm Monitoring By-Law: Halton Regional Police Service

Burlington Ontario Commercial Security Alarm MonitoringIn this series, FMC will outline false alarm by-laws for alarm response in cities in areas that FMC provides service and monitoring for commercial security alarm monitoring systems.  Today, we will look at the security alarm system false alarm by-law for Halton Region and the Halton Regional Police Service.  Halton Regional Police Service serves an area on the edge of the Golden Horseshoe in Ontario which encompasses the City of Burlington, Oakville, Milton and Halton Hills.  Halton Regional Police Service breaks its alarm program fee schedule into two categories – Residential (Home) Security Alarm Monitoring Systems and Commercial Security Alarm Systems.  We’ve broken this down for you below:

Security Alarm System Response Policy from Halton Regional Police:

Registration Required:  Yes – $24.00 (Residential Security Alarm Monitoring Systems) or $48.00 (Commercial Security Alarm Monitoring Systems) – Registration by FMC

Fee Per False Alarm for Residential Home Security Alarm Monitoring Systems:

  • 1st False Alarm: $0 ($100.00 if not Registered)
  • 2nd False Alarm: $30.00 ($120.00 if not Registered)
  • 3rd & 4th False Alarms: $40.00 ($120.00 if not Registered)
  • After a 4th False Alarm, the account is suspended for 365 days. Subsequent Alarm Calls will be billed at $60.00

Fee Per False Alarm for Commercial Security Alarm Monitoring Systems:

  • 1st False Alarm: $0 ($100.00 if not Registered)
  • 2nd False Alarm: $60.00 ($120.00 if not Registered)
  • 3rd & 4th False Alarms: $80.00 ($120.00 if not Registered)
  • After a 4th False Alarm, the account is suspended for 365 days. Subsequent Alarm Calls will be billed at $120.00
