In this series, FMC will outline false alarm by-laws for alarm response in cities in areas that FMC provides service and monitoring. Today, we’ll look at the cities covered by Waterloo Regional Police Service’s alarm response program. Waterloo Regional Police responds to alarm calls from customers living in Waterloo, Kitchener and Cambridge Ontario. These cities are home to approximate 420 thousand people, and the businesses and homes that they reside in. Many of these sites have commercial security alarm monitoring systems installed, which may require police intervention. Below, you’ll find information on the response policies and fees related to alarm response for commercial security alarm monitoring systems and residential alarm monitoring systems for Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge:
Commercial Security Alarm System Response Policy from Waterloo Regional Police Service:
Registration Required: Yes – $10.00 (annually, by the monitoring company)
False Alarms (per 365 day period):
1st False Alarm: $75.00
2nd & Subsequent False Alarm: $75.00 plus a $25.00 escalating fee. (Ie: 2nd false larm will be $100, 3rd will be $125, 4th false alarm would be $150.00 etc)
