As a Monitoring Partner, FMC is taking the first steps toward measuring and understanding the environmental impacts of their business operations, specifically their greenhouse gas emissions. FMC’s goal is to move toward a point where they can commit to a realistic goal for emissions reductions in the near future. “We are excited to join this initiative and put into practice measures which will not only reduce our carbon footprint in the Niagara Region, but in all regions we serve throughout Ontario and Canada.” Said Kevin Allison, General Manager of FMC. “We hope that by joining Niagara Sustainability Initiative, we will encourage others to follow suit. It is the right thing to do.”
“We’re excited to have FMC join the Carbon Project as a monitoring partner.” said Katrina Kroeze, Executive Director of Niagara Sustainability Initiative. “They’ve already demonstrated their commitment to reducing their impact on the environment through electronic waste recycling, equipment upgrades, FSC-Certified paper, and digitizing records and bills to name a few. Joining the Carbon Project will further their commitment and assist in the continuation of a green FMC.”
Through their participation in the Carbon Project, FMC hopes to become a more socially responsible organization in all aspects. . FMC has also decided to incorporate a ‘Green Team’ within their organization to identify other areas within their business that can improve the way they operate in a sustainable fashion. Partnering with NSI was the next logical step in FMC’s efforts to improve the community in which they work. FMC has previously implemented projects which improve their ability to operate in an environmentally sound manner, such as implementing an electronic waste recycling program, and FMC hopes their partnership with Niagara Sustainability Initiative will take this commitment to the next level.
